Founder & President
Yannis Ning is a singer, director, educator, and dramaturg whose work bridges literature with embodied performance. Rooted in multilingual and cross-cultural practice, Yannis creates theatre that explores memory, fragmentation, and the rituals of transformation.
Originally from China and now based in New York, Yannis is completing an M.A. in Educational Theatre and English Education at NYU. Their work draws from vocal performance, physical theatre, and ensemble devising, often centering marginalized identities and hybrid aesthetics.
As the founding president of Dreamborne Theater, Yannis leads the company’s vision to create mythic, memory-rooted performance that lives between dream, language, and lived experience. Recent work includes Nine Shadows in Bloom, a multilingual poetic ritual of inner re-membering and layered chorus.
Across all roles, Yannis is committed to building performance ecologies where contradiction breathes—and silence becomes song.

Yiwei Lu 陆一苇 (he/him) is a New York based writer/performer originally from Shanghai. He identifies himself not as an artist (艺术家), but a laborer of cultural production (文化工作者). He composes anachronistic literary pieces in search of the sublime across the East and the West in the form of epic poetry; and he also participates in historical theatrical pieces to critique the bourgeois melancholia rooted in his mind. He used to study classics, psychoanalysis, literature, and theatre, but he recently sold his soul to capitalism by going into law school, in vain hope of buying it back one day with a company credit card or bitcoins. He now awaits a worldwide revolution to come and wash away his sins. His past works include: 俺抬杠/Anti-Gone?! as playwright (A.R.T. Theater), NYU Gala 2025 as co-director (Apollo Theater) Remorse as Dramaturge (Dixon Place), the President’s Invitation (the Tank).
